Alum Rock Neighborhood

Welcome home

I've recently been contacted by Sadegh Sadeghi, Santa Clara County Roads and Airports Department Senior Traffic Engineer, regarding any traffic safety/improvements questions or needs within Santa Clara County jurisdictional responsibilities that our association may have. So we're going to invite all community members to attend, discuss and compose a list of Alum Rock's major traffic concerns that I can then present to Sadegh. We will then invite him to next months meeting and have him share with us how or what SCC will do to resolve our concerns.

I'll send an email out to ARNNE and the ARNC groups ASAP.

Howdy Neighbors,

This months ARNC meeting will focus on two hot issues for our community, condemned house and roads and traffic issues in our County pockets.

ARNC has been asked to provide the SCC Roads & Airports Department Senior Traffic Engineer with a list of our communities road and traffic issues. We'll compile a list of issues at this months meeting and then present them to the County. Hopefully by next months meeting we'll have a representative from the County giving us their feedback.

At the meeting we'll also discuss what we as community members can do about the recent rise in vacant/condemned houses in our area as well ! as go over the final process for reporting gang related graffiti.

It should be a very informative meeting and well worth everyone's time to attend, without your voices the concerns we have for our community will never be heard .... speak up Alum Rock ! Please let all of your Alum Rock neighbors know about the meeting or the very least please post your concerns at alumrock.ning. com in the forum area.

Hi David,

I’m new to the group but really appreciate getting updates and news on the neighborhood.

If I was in town during this meeting I would’ve made it a priority to attend. The topic is very important. We moved in to the area about 2 ½ years ago –and already we notice traffic getting worse. And now I understand that there is to be a new development coming out of Fleming Rd and another following that on Porter Ln –both of which feed into Alum Rock Ave. Do these traffic engineers ever take a ride on Alum Rock on a Saturday? It’s got to the point where I purposely try to avoid heading out on any local errands over the weekend –and now to think it’s only going to get even worse. Crazy. It’s frightening to imagine what will happen if that property for lease at the corner of Alum and Kirk adds even more cars to the roads; I think that would be the straw that breaks the camel’s back for me.

This neighborhood has such tremendous potential, but it’s taking all the perseverance and tenacity of folks like you before any of that potential ever gets realized. Thanks for all you do.

Take care,
-Joe
